Project Background

Cedar Bayou is a tributary to the Galveston Bay system, thus any sources of contamination potentially impact a wide range of economic and ecological interests even beyond their watershed of origin. Over the next 30 years, areas that are currently undeveloped or lightly developed within the region provide the most promise in helping to sustain healthy water quality for the entire region. Watershed planning plays an integral role in ensuring good water quality in the future. H-GAC and community partners have committed to develop a nine-element Watershed Protection Plan (WPP) for the Cedar Bayou watershed.
